Talonfaust was never what anyone in my household would have deemed to be a model parent by any stretch of the term. He's obnoxious, he's introverted, and outwardly dislikes being anywhere near children. He is, in fact, very vocal on this last thing. So, I would be lying if I said that everyone didn't find it extremely funny when his long-time girlfriend and companion, Yeande, turned up pregnant. Especially after he had assured her that his first physical reported him unable to father children.
It was a day that would live on in infamy in my memories when Yeande arrived on my doorstep, flustered, pissed off, and clutching a positive pregnancy test. It wasn't my place to get involved so I stood to the side and let her have at a very confused and distraught Talon. When the initial screamfest and accusations were out of the way, the two of them settled down to discuss the pregnancy. If it were left up to Talonfaust, I'm almost certain that he would have opted to give the baby up for adoption. However, this was (thankfully) not Talon's decision and Yeande, though upset by her condition, was not one to back down from a challenge. She announced that, not only did she intend to go through with the pregnancy, but she intended to keep the child with or without Talon. Having been presented with a veiled ultimatum, Talonfaust weighed his options and then, quietly, began to set about the motions of getting himself together. He found a job with a nearby tech support call center and, at Meka's urging, selected an engagement ring and presented it to Yeande. The two of them were married in a quiet and private ceremony and, shortly after the wedding, Yeande went into labor.
Yeande's labor was not an easy one and filled with complications and difficulties as her body simply was not built to easily bear and birth a baby. It was by some minor miracle that she only needed six stitches when all was said and done. The child, whom they named Zhane Alexander, is a cuddly and generally-happy baby. I'd say Talon got it easy, really, but that certainly doesn't stop him from complaining about lost sleep and getting spit up on. If nothing else, I imagine parenthood will be a growing experience for both the parents AND child.
