My Kids

When I say "kids", I don't mean my real-life kids. For the sole reason that I don't HAVE any real-life kids (go ahead, sigh with relief, I won't hold it against you). However, the world of Gaia is a wonderful place where maternal instincts can be realized without the fuss of actually having to start a college fund. In such places as the Gaia Maternity & Fertility Clinic, hopeful couples can bring their pairing in for an appointment and, through the power of artistic skill, can have their baby born into their lives.

There are other places such as FA'E HQ where you can likewise raise a child, even if it isn't the flesh of your jpeg flesh and bone of your bitmap bone. In places such as these, you are handed a wayward orphan and told to raise the child to the best of your ability. You are playing the role of the guardian, in other words.

In my case, I've played both and found them to be enriching in their own ways. In some cases, looking at your own genetic makeup at work creates a sort of familiarity. You can watch the child grow up and the ways he/she takes after you and get some sort of handle on how to deal with them. In other cases, its more refreshing to have an adopted son/daughter as well...just because you DON'T know where they came from and you know its your responsibility to get them on the right track in life.
